What do you mean by “a safe neighborhood?” Chicago is a big city; you can get mugged anywhere.
Fair housing laws and our code of ethics prevent us from giving our opinion on that question. Why? Because a ‘safe neighborhood’ is a matter of opinion, and we don’t ever want to interject our opinion in to where a good place for anyone to live is. We take what you say, produce the listings that reflect your preferences, and go from there.
What you really mean when you ask if it’s a safe neighborhood is “Is this a neighborhood where I’ll fit in and feel at home?”
The best way to find the answer to that question is to hang out in the area at all times of the day and night, like you would if you lived there.
Unfortunately, that’s not always possible to do. So read this post on How to Pick the Right Neighborhood for You.
We can provide you with a link to crime statistics, however. Look them up here.
